For detailed Guidelines for Team Captains see next section.

TEAM SELECTION
Team selection is based on a ranking list from the previous season:
Average of all match-pointed scores from the first event of the session in September to the event immediately preceding the AGM.  To qualify, pairs must have played in at least 10 events.

Guidelines for Team Captains

  1. Interested league match team members will be selected by the Chairman of the Kelso Bridge Club based upon rankings at the end of each year. Each six-pair team will be selected from Kelso Bridge Club members based upon an average of all match-pointed scores from the first event of the session in September to the event immediately preceding the AGM.  To qualify, pairs must have played in atl east ten events.
  2. As soon as possible after the teams are announced, the members of each team should get together and choose their Captain, and also agree who will take on these duties in case of illness etc.  The Captain should be chosen by agreement of the majority of the team members.
  3. Lists of League Team members will be included in the Kelso Bridge Club web site.
  4. The Captain should ascertain availability (as far as possible) of Team Members prior to attending the SBU league meeting before the start of the bridge season.
  5. The Captain should be the person to attend the league meeting to set up the programme of matches.  The programme should be set up with due consideration of possible bad weather, trying to avoid the danger months for those travelling longer distances.
  6. The Captain is responsible for allocating pairs for each match, and for calling on reserves if a chosen pair is unable to play. The Captain is responsible for ensuring that every team pair plays the same number of matches, as far as is possible.
  7. The Kelso team is permitted to call on players from the Brave Knaves, and the Brave Knaves will have a nominated pair of reserve players.
  8. The Captain will provide a schedule of team matches and allocated pairs prior to the start of the league season as well as a contact list of all members.
  9. Players are reminded that they should check the programme as soon as it is issued and inform the  Captain if there is a difficulty with their availability for any dates as early as possible.
  10. The Captain is responsible for collecting any monies required, placing any results on the SBU website for home matches, and the administration of league match associated match points.
