Competition Rules

General Conditions of Contest

These are our annual competitions and the rules that govern them.

Competitions are aligned to the the Club year (October to September). These general principles apply except where noted:

  • Competitions are open only to club members – only results of club members playing with club members count.
  • Monday and Thursday events are separate.
  • Events are open to players in both face-to-face and online games (exceptions: Face-to-Face Pipe Cup & Online IMP Pairs).
  • All scores are aggregated from regular club games, either throughout the Club year, a limited shorter period or nominated evenings (exception, Bamberger Virtual Team).
  • Except for Online IMP Pairs and the Bamberger Virtual Team, all competitions are based on matchpoints.

  WINTER & SUMMER HANDICAP CALCULATION

Handicaps are based on the average actual percentage scores for the previous 12 months taken away from 50.00.

Examples: For a member with a 12-month average of 52.51% the handicap would be -2.51 and for an average of 46.25% the handicap would be +3.75.

Handicaps are recalculated and updated by the Bridgewebs program on the 18th of each month.

For members who have not played at least 5 times in the previous 12 months and for visitors their handicap will be -5.00.

For a pair, their handicap is the average of the combined individual handicaps. The handicap score is the sum of the actual percentage score and the pair's handicap.
