Hand #6 played on Friday 4th July 2025
Here is how the bidding could have gone, playing standard ACOL
- South opens his longest suit 1♣ and plans to bid NT as second bid to show a strong balanced hand
- With a nice 5-card suit, West overcalls 1♠
- North bids his longest suit, 2♥ promising at least 5 cards in ♥ and 10+ points (no need to jump)
- With a fit in partner suit, East raises partner ♠ to 2♠
- South asses his hand: at least 10 points from partner so game is on. With a fit in ♥ South bids game
- West passes
- North is thinking slam with a 12-card fit in ♥ and 6 losers in his own hand. North bids 4NT (Blackwood) asking for aces.
- South responses 5♠ promising 3 aces.
- With all aces, North is asking partner for kings by bidding 5NT (Blackwood)
- South responds 6♦ showing 1 king
- With 2 kings missing North signs off the auction with 6♥
East leads the middle card of 3 small cards in partner's suit: ♠ 7
