1) NAME OF CLUB
The Club shall be called Hoylake Bridge Club. The club year will run annually, from January 1st to December 31st.
2) OBJECT
The object of the club shall be:
a) To promote and encourage the development of Duplicate Bridge in the local area in accordance with the rules laid down by the English Bridge Union.
b) To promote a warm and friendly atmosphere at the bridge table.
3) MEMBERSHIP
a) Membership is invoked on the 3rd week of attendance at a Hoylake duplicate bridge event.
b) The annual charge will be £20.00 subject to change by the committee each year.
c) Members must support the objectives of the club and adhere to the laws and ethics of Bridge, as defined by the English Bridge Union.
4) MANAGEMENT
a) The management of the club shall be run by General Committee consisting of a President, a Secretary and a Treasurer, (the posts of Secretary and Treasurer may be combined). If required, two additional club members may be elected annually at the AGM, to serve on the committee. Three members of the Committee will form a quorum.
b) The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancies occurring in the course of the year and to co-opt additional members if necessary.
c) An Auditor shall be elected for the ensuing year at the AGM.
d) The Committee shall meet a minimum of three times a year and at such times as deemed necessary for the transaction of club business.
e) The Secretary shall take minutes of all Committee meetings which, when approved by the Committee, shall be available to all club members. The Secretary shall also be responsible for keeping a register of all club members.
f) The Treasurer shall be responsible for keeping an accurate record of the income and expenditure of the club. The accounts shall be audited by the Auditor and a copy of the audited accounts made available to all members.
5) ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
a) The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the club shall be held during November/December. Notification of the date, time and place of the meeting will be communicated to all members at least seven days prior to the meeting.
b) All Ordinary members will be entitled to vote. The President shall have a deliberative vote, and in the case of a tie, a casting vote.
c) At all meetings of the club one fifth of members shall form a quorum.
6) JUNIOR MEMBERS
Young people under the age of 25 on January 1st of any year shall be eligible for Junior Membership for that year (at a cost to be determined by the Committee). Junior Membership table money will be half that of Ordinary members.
7) DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES
All disciplinary powers of the club are vested in the Committee. Hoylake Bridge Club will adapt and follow EBU guidelines and best practice on disciplinary matters.
