Sad News

It is with much sorrow that we have to announce the death of Claire Bevan who passed peacefully away on Friday 17th April..

At her bedside was Martin and her youngest daughter, Erica.

Claire had been admitted to the Countess of Brecknock hospice in Andover following a long illness. It's a wonderful facility with wonderful staff, and she was free of pain at the end.

Our thoughts with Martin and her family.

(Richard has written a personal account of his long friendship with Claire - click on this to read)

Lilian Craigen

Lilian together with her husband Bill were keen bridge players and members of Worthy Down, West End and Eastleigh clubs.  She was a regular player in HIWCBA events in Romsey. She also taught bridge for a while at a Junior school in Chandler’s Ford

Later she started her own successful club at Colden Common.

Lilian was a valuable member of the HIWCBA Committee.  She was Treasurer for many years and also Competitions Secretary.

Gordon Clarke

Orbituary From Petersfield Bridge Club

Gordon Clarke   1948-2019

Gordon passed away, peacefully, on Saturday,September 21st 2019.

He had been seriously ill for the last year.

Gordon joined the Petersfield Bridge Club  in 2000,

became a committee member in 2012,

and was responsible for developing

the club's website. His sound judgment

made him a good committee member.

Everyone liked Gordon, he was courteous, charming and delightful company.

A good bridge player; he could be a mischievous bidder, when playing club bridge with friends.

He achieved success, at county level, in 2019, when he won The Pottage Cup

partnering John Pearson
