HIWCBA – Chidwick Cup December 7 – December 11 2015

HIWCBA will be running heats of this event in clubs on any date during the
above week. There is only one set of deals so clearly, players may only play
in one heat and some co-operation may be needed between neighbouring clubs.

Commentary has already been written by Julian Pottage and this will be
posted to the County Website and available for perusal after the close of
play. It will also be available as a PDF File which can be printed off if
desired.

Dealing files are provided in several formats for those with access to
dealing machines otherwise a set of Curtain Cards will be sent for the hand
setters.

Scoring will be done at ECatsBridge but only the club and overall ranking
lists will be visible before the close of play on the Friday when all
details will be displayed.

This year we shall run two sections, one for EBU clubs and another other for
the Non-EBU Clubs. A heat may be run on any day during the week and the same
hands shall be played at all venues.

Beside the ranking list for the EBU Clubs section there will be a ranking
list across the whole field which will be displayed on the ECats website as
results come in. Final results will be posted to participating clubs and
displayed on our HIWCBA website.

The Chidwick Cup will be awarded to the top ranked pair in the ranking list
for ALL players. The contribution is set at £2 per player in the EBU heats
(£1.50 in Non-EBU Clubs), which should provide a generous surplus which will
be added to the funds collected towards our "Charity of the Year" – The HIOW
Air Ambulance. Last year we contributed £1600!

This cause has been chosen because it is only the medical staff and supplies
that are funded by the government. The aircraft and crew rely entirely on
donations from the public!

It also matches our catchment precisely.

Please email or phone me if your club would like to join in.
