Tthen Team Lawrenson just lost a higher scoring match to Team Lamont, but beat Team van der Kolk, to rise to equal 4th with team smith with both teams having played 5 matches putting Team Lamont in 7th just below Team Fithyan.
The first two matches of 2026 see Team Birdsall start their campaign 10-10 against Team Lawrenson, and newly promoted Team Van Der Kolk getting their first victory of the season - 13-7 against Team Fithyan. This makes the bottom of the division much closer than the top.
Team Lamont's 12-8 victory over Team Fithyan means that, going into Xmas week, Team Smith remain in 2nd a long way behind top of table Team Preston.
Team Lawrenson have eventually started their season. They started well going 18 imps up against Team Hotchen in the first quarter of their first match, but then faded to lose by 33.
Team Smith's steady-ish 14-6 win over Team Fithyan (Team Smith eventually won each half by 9 imps but were behind at the 3/4 mark) puts them second behind Team Preston.
Team Preston's third match was against Team Hotchen. They started well in the first half and continued to do well in the first half of the second half. However, Team Hotchen recovered in the last 6 boards to limit their losses to 7-13VP.
Previously: Team Preston strengthened their top of the table position with a good evenly paced win over Team Van Der Kolk,.
Before that:: Team Fithyan were top when they started the season with a good win over Team Hotchen (It seems like sometimes good players choose the only losing line in a slam rather than the only winning line), but since then Team Smith have beaten newly promoted Team Van Der Kolk (Who held their own for the last 3/4 of the match after a bad start) to go top temporarily. Team Smith were then 1 imp up at half time against Team Preston but Team Preston got much the better of a lively second half to win handsomely and go top of the table.
