Declarer Play on Wednesdays Starts January 2026 This course

is for bridge players who have already completed bidding basics

and want to improve their declarer play. Each lesson covers a different

“Play of the Hand” strategy.

Bidding reviews are addressed each week to improve this necessary skill. 

Jan. 7 Counting Winners and Entries in NT Bidding: Opener’s Maximum Hand

Jan. 14 Counting Losers and Drawing Trump Bidding: Responder’s Maximum Hands

Jan. 21 Promotion in Suits and Notrump Bidding: Minimum Hands

Feb. 4 Using Length in Suits and Notrump Bidding: Responding to a 1NT Opening Bid

Feb. 11 The Finesse Bidding: Old Suits and Showing Values

Feb. 18 Trumping in Dummy Bidding: Evaluate Using Dummy Points

Feb. 25 Discarding a Loser March 4 More Finesses Bidding: Jacoby 2NT Convention

March 11 Watch Out for the Opponents

March 17 The Hold Up Play

March 25 Trump Suit Management

The lesson fee is $20 per week.

Students will receive handouts each week that include lesson

highlights and hands played.

Beginner Bridge Lessons

Winter 2026 Tuesday Mornings at the Bridge Center

Bridge is a game you can enjoy for a lifetime! Please join us this winter at the Hilton Head Island Bridge Club for lessons Tuesday mornings 10:00 – 12:00.

The course will run for ten weeks, you can attend the classes as they fit your schedule.

If you are brand new to the game, you will gain the most if you are able to attend the majority of the classes.

January 20th Choosing a Contract

January 27th No Class, Hilton Head Regional Tournament

February 3rd Opening Bids, Hand Evaluation

February 10th No Trump Opening Bids and Responses

February 17th Major Suit Opening Bids & Responses

February 24th Major Suit Bidding/Practice Hands

March 3rd Minor Suit Opening Bids & Responses

March 10th Minor Suit Opening Bids/Practice Hands

March 17th Putting it All Together

March 24th Bridge Plus 

Each lesson is $20.00.
