Nine-High Pairs

The 9-High Pairs competition is specifically aimed at our less experienced members.  The top 4 pairs from this event will be eligible to represent Hertfordshire in the EBU's Corwen Trophy (see below)  provided that Herts was both players county of primary allegiance on January 1st 2025

When: 2pm on Sunday 23rd March 2025

Eligibility:

Players with an NGS grading of 9 or less.

If you are unsure of your NGS rating, you can check it by logging into the "My EBU" section on the EBU website or your club will able to tell you or you can email Alan Woof, HBA Membership Secretary: ajwo56@hotmail.com.

Format:

Duplicate pairs, 24 boards

Conventions: Players are only allowed to use conventions that are permitted under  'Level 2' systems.  These include the common English systems but not artificial bids which may be weak e.g. multi two diamonds.  See the EBU site for more details.
Entries:

Pre-entry is required. You may enter at any time prior to the day of the session. No entries on the day.

Entry Fees & Payment: FREE for all players whose primary county affiliation is to Hertfordshire, otherwise £2 per person.

Corwen Trophy

The Nine-High Corwen is a new EBU event open to all members with an NGS grade 2 - 9 inclusive on 1st January 2025.  The Final will be played online (2x18-board sessions) on 31st May 2025, with a choice of playing on either BBO or RealBridge.
