This cup is presented to the winners of an inter-club competition for a team of four pairs of limited EBU rank. The aggregate rank of players in a team is restricted to a maximum on a defined scale.
In the 1950’s this event started as the Hertfordshire inter-town competition for teams of twelve.

Records for these early events have not been kept. There was not a competition for many years but was then restarted in the 1990’s.
