Bulletin

As the Covid threat level is moderate, mask wearing will be optional at bridge, although players can request that others at the table wear masks. Group refreshments are no longer being offered during the game, although players can bring their own drinks and snacks.

Generally we have resumed playing twice a week at the Heritage Hills Activities Center. The club asks that players arrive at least ten minutes before the scheduled game time, so the director can set up the movement in a timely fashion.

2024 Annual Meeting

Club president Marie Sugar thanked board members for serving and thanked club members for playing.

She noted that a number of members appear in this year's ACBL Ace of Clubs masterpoint race: Subhash Sindhwani, Pat Held and Anne Rockmore in the 20-50 point category; Mary Robohn, Ronnie Klares and Kathy Wall in the 50-100 point category; Harriet Vale in the 100-200 point category; Cindy Kennedy and Ann Harper in the 200-300 point category; Joanne Jantos, Diana Kent, Mark Kotkin and Sanju Bakare in the 300-500 point category; Eleanor Blanco, Marie Sugar, Merle Lewis and Flo Olsen in the 1000-1500 point category; Harvey Sugar in the 1500-2500 point category; Elizabeth Baecher (a new Sapphire Life Master), Edith Alexander and Mort Amstel in the 2500-3500 point category; Richie Castellone, Robin Brown and Barbara Loprete in the 3500-5000 category; and Clifford Nebel heading the 7500 to 10,000 category.

Marie wished departing club member Shirley Kesselman goodbye and good luck. Shirley will be leaving later in the summer, heading to the West Coast. Shirley got up and told the club members she had played in games all across the country, and she felt that Heritage was the friendliest club.

Marie noted that Karen Sloan had taken over as the new club manager as well as taking over directing Thursday games, that the club had joined the Common Game in September 2023, and that Harriet Burek had represented the club at the Heritage Society's Welcome Day, but we had not seen her since.

The Holiday Party last December was held at Oscar's, and Marie said the date for this year's party has been set for December 19.

Club Secretary Elyse Stein read the minutes of the 2023 meeting.

In his Treasurer's report, Richie Stroh noted that in the fiscal year ending June 30 there were 56 1/2 fewer tables and 226 fewer players, and the club ran a deficit for the year of $2700, with lower income and an increase in expenditure.

After the meeting those attending dined on pizza, salad and a cake marking Shirley's departure.
