Email scam

Please note that an email phishing scam is currently being targeted at bridge club members from scammers abroad, and has affected some of our members, as well as other bridge clubs in the UK.

If you get an email from another HBC member that is both sent from and to that member (i.e. not sent to you in the Send to: line), asking for a few minutes of your time via email, then do not reply. If you reply, you will then get another saying that one of their relatives has terminal cancer and they would like you to buy an Apple e-gift card for them.

This is a scam. Do not under any circumstances give any money and better not to reply in the first instance, to avoid your email address being used by the scammer. Please let Carol F. know if you get one of these emails.

HBC Membership
HBC Membership application

We are always keen to have new members play with us at our club or online, using the RealBridge system. We are delighted that you have arrived here with the intention of joining us! HBC Membership is for a year, starting at the beginning of September and costs £10. When you join we will register you with the Scottish Bridge Union (SBU) and pay your joining fee, so that you have access to the tournaments and bridge education that they offer. Our club nights are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht club house in Rhu, and while we are operating under Covid restriction, we operate as a virtual club playing bridge on these evenings. If you haven't already found them, you can find details of where and when we play here: Where and when page

You can download a copy of our HBC Membership application form here: HBC Membership application. Fill this in and return to us by scanning the document and attaching to an email, or by post to Morag Young, HBC Secretary at the address given on the form.

To meet our Data protection requirements, the club has a privacy policy that explains what data we hold, why we hold it and allows you to opt-in or out of HBC using your data for normal club operations. You can download a copy of that here: HBC Privacy policy

You have the option of telling us your opt-in or out requirements now, by filling in the form below or you can do this through our website at any time after you have joined. As a member you have the ability to access parts of the HBC website reserved for members only, using a unique member's password. This includes your membership record which has your opt-in/out preferences and your member account, as we operate a pay-per-play system via the website that notifies you each month what games you have played, what charges you have for those games, any payments that you have made and shows you a credit or debit balance on your member account.

If you have any queries, you can contact Morag Youngthe HBC Club secretary by email by clicking on her name to the left, or phone her on 01436676648.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
