It is with regret that the Bridge Club will be closed for the foreseeable future.
We wish everyone the best of health over the coming months.

*Update - HBC Online Virtual Bridge*
Online virtual bridge duplicate sessions are now being hosted by the bridge club. Keep an eye on future dates in the calendar.
At present each player who plays in a session will be charged approx £1.30. HBC will collect the money and forward it to the EBU and BBO. Details of the arrangements and on how to pay the club will be sent in a separate email to all members.
The committee feels that the club environment bridge sessions may not return for sometime. They wish to inform all members that they will support you should you wish to give online virtual bridge a try.
If you are unsure of how to get started with our new online bridge please contact Barry Whiteley, Rob Cave or Janet Latham.
" Barry & Rob have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into getting this off the ground, including learning how to be online Tournament Directors. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes for each session e.g organising, directing, uploading results etc, all of which is new to both of them.
Thank you "

HBC Online Bridge
"With 15 pairs competing, the first HBC Virtual Bridge session took place this morning (18/5/2020).
Congratulations to pairs Andrea Johnson and Stella Bullock, Ron and Marie Appleby for winning their respective groups. It hasn't gone unnoticed that Andrea and Stella have been getting some "sneaky" advice and tips from Ron and Marie during the past few weeks, so further praise to both pairs is quite in order.
To run this type of session is quite intense. Yes, it is software driven but setting up and closing down the session contains a number of complex procedures. Over time and with experience these will hopefully become easier to undertake, but, having seen some of the activity which needs to be undertaken, a real big thank you must be extended to Rob for TD'ing this first session.
Next steps. We need to undertake a review of the session, so comments from those who played would be welcome. Please contact Barry or Rob." Barry W

The final match was played online on Tues 7th. Leeds Leaders beat Strays by 1 IMP i.e. a 10-10 draw, which incredibly was exactly the same result as their match in October.
This means that Leeds Leaders win Division 1, 2 points ahead of Strays. Other division winners are Thirsk Tricksters, Herculeans and Pannal Beaters. Paul B

We are a welcoming and friendly bridge club catering for players of all standards. We run seven pairs sessions per week and a supervised play afternoon for those who want to practice before they step up to duplicate. We also have classes for beginners and intermediates, and occasional instruction on specific topics.
Visiting pairs are always made welcome.
For the more competitive players we have five teams in the Yorkshire Sunday League. Many of our players also group together to make teams of four that play in the Harrogate and District Bridge League against more local opposition.
Harrogate Bridge Club is located in the centre of this beautiful spa town. The club has its own private premises and is well established with over 250 members. In addition to our playing areas, the club has a kitchen and a licensed bar. HBC is a member of the English Bridge Union, EBU, and the Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association, YCBA. We use the Bridgemate wireless scoring system so that results are updated as you play. Hand copies of each session can be taken away and are also available once the results are posted on the website.
