Welcome to Harrogate Bridge Club
Building Works at the Club

The club will be undergoing essential building works through spring/ summer to keep us up to date with current fire safety regulations for the benefit of our members and visitors, also for the occupants of the flats above. There will be some disruption that we are going to keep to a minimum but some sessions may be disrupted by noise or possibly moved to the upstairs rooms, some afternoon sessions may need to be cancelled as a new door and partition will be built leading upstairs from the ground floor. Updates will be posted on the website as we get more details in the coming months. A newsletter will be sent to members with more details of the works via a pianola email.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Ventilation

Ventilation Improvements and Air Purifiers

Following more research and having taken advice from a ventilation contractor, we have:

  • started using both wall fans as extractors with very good results without opening windows
  •  set up three Electriq EAP500HC ionising air purifiers.  These were the highest-rated ones tested by Which? and have advanced features including HEPA filters which take out 99.9% airborne particles down to 0.25 microns including bacterial pollutants.

These measures will improve playing comfort and, we hope, help to reassure players that from now on we will have excellent air quality and make the Club a safe place to come to.  More details are being circulated to Members via Pianola.

Welcome

We are a welcoming and friendly bridge club catering for players of all standards.  We run seven pairs sessions per week and a supervised play afternoon for those who want to practice before they step up to duplicate.  We also have classes for beginners and intermediates, and occasional instruction on specific topics.

Visiting pairs are always made welcome.

For the more competitive players we have five teams in the Yorkshire Sunday League.   Many of our players also group together to make teams of four that play in the Harrogate and District Bridge League against more local opposition.

Harrogate Bridge Club is located in the centre of this beautiful spa town.  The club has its own private premises and is well established with over 250 members.  In addition to our playing areas, the club has a kitchen and a licensed bar.  HBC is a member of the English Bridge Union, EBU, and the Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association, YCBA.  We use the Bridgemate wireless scoring system so that results are updated as you play.  Hand copies of each session can be taken away and are also available once the results are posted on the website.
