EBU forum for Tournament Directors

Following the recent change in the Laws, the EBU have set up an online forum for TDs -  this is open to everyone whether a qualified director or not. It may be found at https://www.ebu.co.uk/forum

To log in for the first time

If you click on a restricted page you will be taken to a login window with a [Forgotten Password] button. You should enter your email address and click [Forgotten Password]. If this is a valid address (i.e. registered with the Club), you will be sent a pre-assigned password. Please then re-enter your email address in the login window, and the password, and click the [Logon] button. You can use the [Account] Tab to change the password to one of your own choice.

COMPETITION RULES FOR 2020-21

We welcome visitors to the Club. However, although they may play in any event, visitors are not eligible to win club prizes.  Special rules apply to visitors playing in the teams leagues, see below.

For all competitions -  no conventions above EBU Level 4 are allowed

Please note that the seasonal and league competitons below will have the number of rounds adjusted, depending on when bridge is able to resume. The numbers below show the adjusted number of rounds for 2019-20.

 

Summer Pairs (April - August)

14 Rounds, minimum of 9 rounds played to qualify, 9 best scores to count

 

Trophy Pairs (Oct - March)

13 Rounds, minimum of 9 rounds played to qualify, 9 best scores to count (reduced to take account of closure in March)

 

Handicap Pairs (Oct - March)

13 Rounds, minimum of 9 rounds played to qualify, 9 best scores to count (reduced to take account of closure in March)

 

Club Individual Championship

27 Rounds, qualifying events are Summer Pairs and Trophy/Handicap Pairs. Any 18 rounds played to qualify, 18 best scores to count (reduced to take account of closure in March). Must play with more than one partner in counting scores

 

Club Championship Pairs

2 session event, consecutive weeks in September. This will be divided into Open and Restricted, with Restricted pairs to have a combined NGS of not more than 18, and neither player to be graded higher than 10. Open winners and runners up are not eligible for a prize in the Restricted section, irrespective of their grades

 

Teams of Four Trophy, monthly (named teams)

12 rounds, minimum of 8 rounds to qualify, 8 best scores to count. Teams should have a core membership of 4-5 club members, and scores are based on team name. Substitutes are allowed, who may be members or visitors (non-members). To be eligible for prizes no team may field visitor substitutes on more than 5 occasions in total, over the course of the league.

 

Teams of Four Handicap League, monthly (named teams)

12 rounds, minimum of 8 rounds to qualify, best 8 scores to count. Teams should have a core membership of 4-5 club members, and scores are based on team name. Substitutes are allowed, who may be members or visitors (non-members). To be eligible for prizes no team may field visitor substitutes on more than 5 occasions in total, over the course of the league. Teams Trophy winners and runners up are not eligible for a prize in the handicap. Handicaps are based on NGS ratings, any player with a non-visible NGS rating will be rated as a King i.e. 59%.
