ABOUT OUR CLUB
ABOUT OUR CLUB

The Hambleden Bridge Club is a friendly club. We normally play in the Hambleden village hall in the centre of the village.

Please park in the car park just past the Stag and Huntsman car park leaving the centre of the village open for emergency vehicles and customers of the village shop.

Our normal format is match-pointed pairs with - 18 - 24  boards. Please be seated by 1.05pm.

Allowed conventions are based on EBU level 2 as used for the Berks and Bucks Friendly pairs events but extended to allow any defence to a 1NT opening.

The club's rules regarding behaviour, convention cards and the limitations on systems are available through the left hand menu under 'Club Rules'.

We are affiliated to the EBU thru the Berks & Bucks CBA.

Our boards are computer dealt using the club's own dealing machine. Hand records are available at the end of the session.

Chiltern Bridge League

The Chiltern Bridge League (CBL) was formed in 1968 to provide bridge clubs in the Reading Area with additional club competitions. Paramount among these is our Elimination Pairs Competition where individual clubs designate one of their usual sessions as a heat. Any pairs who obtain 50% or more in the heat may take part in the subsequent CBL final, held on line usually in late April. CBL also organise several events for teams of 4. There is a league over the winter and a cup competition in the spring where teams play each other over several months and then a summer teams competition held over one evening in July.
Post-Covid all competitions are held on-line on BBO but with the option of playing on realbridge or face to face if both teams agree.
Information about the league including entry forms, competition rules and results can be obtained by email from mgbdrew@hotmail.co.uk and is also available on the club website www.bridgewebs.com/chilternleague/
