Improvers

Bridge is a highly engaging card game that has captivated players around the world. To help newcomers and enthusiasts alike learn the game or improve their skills, in collaboration with Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association (YCBA) and the English Bridge Union (EBU) we offer a comprehensive learning program that combines online videos, practical sessions, a software package, and a physical and digital library of resources.

YCBA Online Videos

Our primary method of delivering lessons is through YCBA online videos. These videos are specifically designed to provide clear, step-by-step instructions on various aspects of bridge play. They cater to different skill levels, ensuring that both beginners and experienced players can benefit.

Hands-On Play Sessions

In addition to the online videos, we conduct play sessions at the club where participants can practice using hands that correspond to that week's video lesson. These sessions are invaluable for reinforcing the concepts learned online and providing real-time experience and feedback. Improvers Play Sessions are at 2pm on a Monday and 7pm on a Friday and are £3.

EBU "Learn to Play Bridge" Software (Free)

As an optional resource, we provide access to the free "Learn to Play Bridge" software package available from the English Bridge Union (EBU). This Windows software is an excellent tool for those who prefer interactive software-based learning. It covers the fundamentals of bridge and offers practice hands to test and apply the knowledge gained. Click here to find out more.

Library of Resources

Our website hosts a comprehensive set of links to short YouTube videos in the Lesson Library. These videos are curated to supplement our primary lessons and provide additional insights into specific topics. The Lesson Library is continually updated to ensure that learners have access to the latest and most relevant bridge content available online. Click here to find out more. There is also a selection of books at the club that can be borrowed.
