Help & Guide
Release 2.19r
7.3 RealBridge

The following options are provided in Bridgewebs for "RealBridge"

In each Calendar entry, you can set details in the "Online Bridge" section

  • Set the "Online Service" to "RealBridge"
  • Set the "Online Session No" to the session provided by RealBridge e.g. xx.html?p=12345&q=ONLINE

With the "Online Session No" set

  • For future entries, Bridgewebs will provide an extra link on the Calendar Entries on the Home page and Calendar "RealBridge Login" which will take the user direct to the appropriate page
  • For Results, Bridgewebs will provide an extra [RealBridge] Button to allow a user to access the RealBridge Archive of the Game.
  • In Web Administration - Settings - Members, you can choose to make the "RealBridge Login" available only to Members. In which case, Members will have to login to Bridgewebs first and then use the Link.

RealBridge is a newly developed web system and as such uses the more widely accepted UTF-8 character set for accented characters in names. For historic reasons, Bridgewebs is usually run with ASCII character sets. When XML files are uploaded, Bridgewebs will match the Club Site character set with the XML character set and translate as necessary.

Amend Players

If you find the names or EBU Numbers are incorrect, rather than trying to Edit the XML file, go back to RealBridge and use the RealBridge Administration login https://play.realbridge.online/club_admin.html

  • Click on Director Link for particular Session
  • Login Again
  • Click on Advanced - "Advanced Director Options"
  • Click on "Right" Arrow - "Edit player"
  • Use drop-down "Select Player to Edit"
  • Change Details Name/EBU
  • Click "Make Edit"

Then go back and click on "USEBIO" again and proceed as before.

Download USEBIO

NOTE: RealBridge can provide an XML file at the end of the session, you will need to save this to your PC

RealBridge provides 2 formats of XML file and 2 formats of PBN, you only need 2 files
The "USEBIO with Play" creates an XML including the so-called "LINDATA" which Bridgewebs uses to show the extra details and passes to the "Play It Again" BSOL Solver
The "PBN File with Play" includes the Bidding for each round in the PBN file and takes advantage of an existing PBN specification and a feature of Bridgewebs which analyses any Bidding information and shows in an extra box called "The Expert View". The reason that it is called "The Expert View" is the information written in the PBN file is normally created manually using a product like http://www.bridgecomposer.com/ and is provided for experts to add notes and the "Experts" idea of Bidding. The RealBridge "PBN File with Play" is not an "Expert View" but just an extract of all rounds of Bidding. If you want to change this title, go to your club site WebAdmin - Settings - Scoring and change the very last option on the page "PBN Description".

P.S. It looks like someone stumbled on this "Expert View" feature in Bridgewebs and decided to use it. Bridgewebs think that this would be better handled a different way and is included in the Bridgewebs "Suggestions List"

  • Click on Director Link for particular Session
  • Login Again
  • Click on "Advanced" - "Advanced Director Options"
  • Click on "USEBIO"
  • Click on "USEBIO with Play" and then save to your PC
  • Click on "PBN File" and then save to your PC
  • Click on "PBN File with Play" and then save to your PC

Then go to your Bridgewebs site, and "Results Administration" and Browse for your XML and PBN file.

NOTE: the XML file cannot be retrieved automatically from RealBridge
