10.9 Links to Online Bridge

Many clubs are  organising "Online Bridge" sessions for their members. There are new options available to allow clubs to use the Calendar to work in a similar way to uploading Ad-Hoc documents.

This is "Work in Progress" as we find out how the various sites work.

Create an Event  in the usual way

  • Give it a Date and Event Id
  • Give it a Title
  • Choose the "Appropriate" Highlight see ¶1
  • In the "Online Bridge" section
    • Enter the service that you are using. This allows Bridgewebs to choose the appropriate link to the "Online" site.
    • Enter the "Code" available from the "Online Bridge" site into the Session No box. see ¶2
  •  Click [Save]

Now when you go to your calendar and click on that event, the page from the "Online Bridge" site will show:

  1. With a link to the BBO Page
  2. Rebuilt with BBO Names translated using the "BBO Name" filed off the Membership Database. ¶3

Notes

¶1 See the guide for details of hiding calendar entries and assigning one of Highlights for "Online Bridge" ans showing in the Calendar

¶2 To find the BBO Online Session No, go to bridgebase.com with a link similar to

http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tarchive.php?m=h&h=hostname where hostname is your hostname for your club,
then to find the number "Right Click" on the appropriate Leaderboard entry and "Open in new tab".
The code is the part following the web address e.g. for https://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=3917-1585144986, the code is t=3917-1585144986. NOT local no #4567

¶3 For greater efficiency when BBO is loaded, Bridgewebs will link to the BBO page on the first occasion an event is viewed and extract and save the page on the Bridgewebs server. Then decode the page to find the BBO Names and use the Membership database to lookup the actual names and reconstruct the page in a Bridgewebs format. Use the link if you would like to view the actual BBO format.

For BBO, sometimes there may be more characters in the address, but it is the t=.... that is needed
