Release Cycle.
A global update of the whole of Bridgewebs used to be undertaken every so often, but there is now an upgrade message shown when you first log into Web Administration and the site isn't on the latest release. Then you simply click to upgrade. This means that you are in control of when the site is upgraded.
Then for the very latest software, this is tried out with a few clubs first, until it is stable and enhancements completed. It will then become the general release at some stage.
The software release cycle for Bridgewebs is such that there are generally several releases on the go at once.
- "Live" Release, which is considered a fully stable release
- "Beta" Release, with minor enhancements/fixes as result of feedback from users being updated as necessary
- "Development" Release, with significant enhancements being developed in conjunction with specific clubs
- "Test" Release, with all latest development for Bridgewebs use only (not assigned)
Any site on a release older than the "Live" release is given an option to upgrade in "Web Administration" after logging in. Any other newer upgrades are done by Bridgewebs according to requirements. Once the number of clubs on the Beta release goes beyond a dozen or so, the release cycle starts all over again.
This technique means that upgrades are progressive and gives time for new enhancements to bed in. Then when the release is made "Live" it has few problems.
You can read what's new with the latest release at What's New
If you notice anything in the "What's New" for the pre-release and are interested in the feature and willing to check it out, contact Bridgewebs to have your site upgraded.
