Help & Guide
Release 2.19r
16.1.4 Player Database

If you have more than one scorer, then it is very important that you share one player file between you. The player file contains information about players such as EBU number and join date. The EBU number is used for sending EBU master points to the EBU and the join date for detecting whether a player is a member as far as "Member Only" competitions are concerned. It also makes sure that you have the name spelt the same, again used in Competitions to analyse week-on-week scores.

When you start using a Scorer Player file with Bridgewebs, you can upload the Player file to Bridgewebs and then the other scorer can download the player file to their version. On following events if you have a new player, then you should again download the player file, add the new player AND upload the player file to Bridgewebs again. After a few weeks you should have all the regulars recorded and you will just need to do this if there is a Visitor.

With Scorebridge

You do this from the top level "Events List".

  • Select option "Exchange Files" in the top bar.
  • Select "Upload Player Database to Bridgewebs".
  • Select "Download Player Database from Bridgewebs".

You can set ScoreBridge to do this automatically.

  • Select option "Club" in the top bar.
  • Select "Preferences"
  • Select "Player Preferences"
  • Tick "New Event Prompt to Download Player Database from Bridgewebs at start and Upload at end"
  • OK

Now when you create a New Event it will prompt to download from Bridgewebs etc.

NOTES:

  • UPLOAD means from your PC to the web site
  • DOWNLOAD means from the web site to your PC

IF YOU HAVE SEPARATE SCORERS and A PLAYER WITH THE WRONG NAME

1) If you are not concerned about Master Points, or the result was simply a one off by a guest scorer, then

  • You will need to make sure each scorer spells the names the same.
  • If you find any discrepancies, correct the player file
  • Retrieve the event and Click "Use Player Database",
  • Then upload each event again,
  • Providing the event title is the same, this will overwrite the results on the web site and correct any competitions or "List of Recent Results"

2) The best idea is to use the same player file and adopt the procedure above, in which case.

  • Correct any historical events as previously
  • Choose the player file of one of the scorers to use as the master
  • Upload to Bridgewebs
  • The other scorers should then "Freeze" historical results by changing the name of the club
  • Create a new club and download the player file
  • Use this club in future.
