15.4 Private Documents

You may have some documents which you would only like Members to see.

First, this can only be done with PDF documents. Normally you will create a Document in Word and save as a .doc. In order to upload to Bridgewebs, in Word use the [Save As] a PDF.

For complete security, when you upload a document, you will need to "Tick" the "Private option in order to load the document into a private part of the Bridgewebs web space. These documents can then only be accessed via the online Bridgewebs site when a Member enters a password.

AAB3C3CYou then have 2 options.

  1. You can use the "Entry in Menu" feature and add directly to the Menu. The document will then only be available when a Member has logged in.
  2. You can set up a "News" page and create a "News" item for each document.

For the News Page

  • Go to News
  • Click [Add Page]
  • Give the "News" item a title
  • Click [Save]
  • Click [Page Options]
  • Set to "Member Only"
  • Click [Save]

You can then add it to the Main Menu or the Member Tabs.

For the Main Menu, use Menu - Amend as for any other page. However, the page contents will only be available after a Member Logs in

For the Member Tab,

  • Select [Menu]
  • Select [Member Only] Tab
  • Any "Member Only" pages will be listed across the top if used or bottom if not
  • Use "Drag & Drop" to make your page available.
