EBU Affiliated Clubs Only
There is a feature in Bridgewebs to retrieve the NGS Grades from the EBU.
NGS Grades
You will first need to go to Web Admin - Settings - Site Details
- Enter Your EBU Club Number
- Enter your EBU Club password.
- [Save]
Once these have been entered Bridgewebs will automatically obtain the NGS Grades for the club at the start of each month.
NOTE: Bridgewebs will update the Bridgewebs Membership database for any Members on the Membership database with an EBU Number (See Below)
Technically, each time any results are uploaded or the site updated, then Bridgewebs will check that the NGS Grades have been downloaded for the current month and, if not, retrieve them from the EBU site. This is for efficiency reasons to avoid unnecessary downloading of the same file.
Displaying NGS Grades
You can display the NGS Grades in your web site.
- Create a New News Page
- Create a News Items
- Enter some text as necessary
- Use the Widget "EBU NGS Grades"
- go to "Page Options" to make this Public or Private.
or let Bridgewebs add a page automatically to the Members Only Tabs.
NGS Rank Percentage
In WebAdmin - Settings - Scoring, you have an option to display the NGS Ranking for an event on the Ranking Page
- Show with Popup Detail
- Show without detail
- Do not show
Bridgewebs will calculate the average NGS % for the event using the NGS Percentage for each player downloaded at the beginning of the month. This is an indication of the strength of the event and is not as comprehensive as the EBU Calculation which takes into consideration the latest information and Strength of Field, split by direction for Straight Mitchell.
NOTE: Players will only appear if:
- the Bridgewebs Membership database has an EBU Number (Member or Visitor) and Registered at the EBU as a Member of the club.
- the Bridgewebs Membership database "Opt-in Rank" is set to YES.
- the player has ticked "Appear in masterpoint promotions lists" in their MyEBU Account "My Details".
If you find the NGS rating or anything else is not as you expect, please check that the EBU Number is correct for each player.

Handicap Competitions
You can choose to generate Handicaps dependent on the Member NGS Grades.
Select "Handicap" type "NGS Grades" and [Save]
Then a list of Grades will show and you can enter the Handicap to be applied to each grade.
Remember, for the top handicap, e.g. Ace, enter this as minus
For each event in the Competition Bridgewebs will look up the Grade for the player from the NGS Grade table for the first month of the competition (avoiding the NGS Grade changing during the period of the Competition) and apply a handicap according to your competition handicap set up.
