There are a number of options for the calculation of the competition
- No of Events - This is automatically calculated from the events selected.
- Minimum Events - Enter the minimum no of events played to qualify. If a % symbol is in the value, e.g. 50%, this will treated as a percentage. of the events. In the early stages of the competition, the no of events specified in the "Minimum" option may not have been reached. To overcome this (especially in early stages), the system can be set to do one of 2 things.
- ProRata - the system will prorata the "Minimum" to the number already played / total events assigned to the competition, e.g. if there are 20 events in the competition, you have played 10 and the "Minimum" is 8, then the "Minimum" will be overridden to 8 *10/20 = 4.
- Events Played - if the number of events played is less than "Minimum", then the "Minimum" will be reset to the number played, i.e. in the early stages of the competition, the players must have played in all events.
- Maximum Best - Many clubs introduce a "best" option to encourage regular members, so that once this is reached only the best "n" scores are included and the "worst" score ignored. Leave blank to include all scores, i.e. ignore this option. In the early stages of the competition, the no of events specified in the "Best" option may not have been reached. To overcome this, the system can be set to do one of 2 things.
- ProRata - the system will prorata the "Best" to the number already played / total events assigned to the competition, e.g. if there are 20 events in the competition, you have played 10 and the "Best" is 12, then the "Best" will be overridden to 12 *10/20 = 6. This method allows the "Best" factor to come into play earlier rather than towards the end when someone might suddenly move up because a couple of really dreadful results suddenly drop off.
- Events Played - if the number of events played is less than "Best", then the "Best" will be reset to the number played, i.e. in the early stages of the competition, all results will count.
