During Covid, ACBL decided to award more Master Points for certain Games.
However, no changes have been made or are going to be made to ACBLScore nor any Game file to reflect this. This may well revert at some stage in the future.
The increased awards, when applicable, are dynamically calculated when results are uploaded to ACBL@Live.and update each player's cumulative totals.
As a consequence, when Bridgewebs displays results for an ACBLScore game file, it shows the ACBLScore calculated Master Points. This is the case whether the files are uploaded directly through 'Results Administration' or using the 'ACBL@Live' automatic download.
Following various discussions with ACBL since this was implemented back in 2021/2022, no definitive solution has been reached to allow Bridgewebs to easily obtain the increased Master Points nor calculate them in line with ACBL
ACBL are aware of the requirement for Bridgewebs to show the correct Master Points, but, at present, this is not in their current schedule.
It was decided that the most accurate method of updating the Master Points would be to access ACBL@Live results, extract the Master Points from there. and update the Bridgewebs Results file. This was developed and, currently, is as follows.
This is successfully in use for clubs with only one result per day.
This relies on matching the event name in the Game file with the title in the Bridgewebs calendar
The first request to display the results will check against ACBL and can take a few seconds, thereafter everything is stored on Bridgewebs
If a match is successful, Bridgewebs records the 'ACBL Game Id Number' in the Bridgewebs Calendar and when the results are displayed using the '2022 Edition' and extra button will be displayed allowing the user to click and go directly to the corresponding ACBL@Live results display.
If you think your club could benefit from this, then log in to WebAdmin - Settings - [Scoring] Tab and set the '(ACBL Only) - Update Master Points from ACBL@Live' option to Yes.
If you have any suggestions regarding this feature, please use the 'Administration Support Request' in the WebAdmin Log in page.
We are in continuing contact with ACBL and they have suggested another solution (August 2023) utilizing part of their ongoing move towards using XML as a standard. However, this looks like a significant amount of development for Bridgewebs and it will need to be scheduled.
