Fantastic weather for the whole weekend at the Millstream Hotel in Bosham plus delicious food and very good company. Only 6 tables for the first time in many years so the first 2 sessions of the Howell movement proved a little challenging but no problem by Sunday morning. Jane & Diane were the overall winners with 58.4% having been top twice. Stella & Rita got the other top and that gave them second place overall with 56.1%. The best slam prize went to Diana & Rosemary for 6NT+1. All of the worthy wine winners are shown in the photo.
Thanks to all concerned for making it a super weekend.
Thelma's funeral on Thursday 23rd January was well attended by Club members.
John & Keith were clear Pairs winners with an average for the year of 57.4% and thus retained the Horn Cup. Ian & Paul, Jeff & Shirley, David & Linda and Diane & Jane followed them.
The Top Lady on the other hand was a very close race. Four had averages of 54% so it came down to decimel places, for the top two even to second decimel place. Jane Troughton overtook Linda in the last couple of weeks to finish in front with 54.74% compaired to Linda's 54.70%. They were followed by Diane, Shirley, Beverley & Jane Vich.
Keith had the highest percentage, but already had an award, so second placed John Tcheng was again the Top Man with 56.25%
Just 2 pairs increased their average from below 50% last year to above 50% this year. Pam & Pat increased by more than Diana & Kathy and thus received the Best Improvers Award.
Congratulations to all the winners and high achievers.
Bottles of red and white wine and an excellent spread of food in the main hall greeted members for the Christmas Party. 26 pairs, there had been some unfortunate drop outs, competed to get the highest net score of the evening and so win the wine. Jane & Diane triumphed in North/South and Pam & Pat in East/West. The evening concluded with the presentation of the annual awards. Thanks to all involved for making it such a success!
