Welcome to Grange Bridge Club
We meet at the United Reformed Church Hall in Grange over Sands every Tuesday at 6.45pm for a prompt 7.00pm start.
We play Teams on the first Tuesday of the month, and pairs every other Tuesday.

| Farewell to Mike |
We said a final farewell to Mike Howse on Wednesday 29th October. Grange, Windermere, Barrow and Kendal bridge clubs represented about 50% of those present at the funeral. Patrick and Matthew, two of MIke's sons, gave tributes, as did Geoff Lacy, an old friend, and Janine Hill, who worked at the doctor's practice where Mike was a partner.
The entrance music was Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man", which couldn't have been more fitting or more moving.
We made our way from the funeral ceremony at Beetham to Netherfield Cricket Club while the family oversaw Mike's burial in Parkside cemetery. There were a couple more speeches by more of Mike's friends as we ate and drank.
A very sad occasion, saying goodbye to such a well loved friend and colleague.

| Lessons starting in September! |
A new series of bridge lessons start on Wednesday Sept 24th 7.00pm at the Grange Institute.
They're open to people who want to brush up on their bridge, or want to return to playing bridge and have to refresh their memories.

| Cumbria Championship Teams Winners! |

Many congratulations to John MacLachlan, Robin Rose and Mike and Sally Ann Rothwell for winning this year's Cumbria Championship Teams. In the final they had a strong first half, and then a somewhat nervy second half... in the end beating Paul Davies's team from the West Coast by 33 IMPs.
