Quotes from the After-School Club

  • It is really good and very fun (5 stars)
  • It is enjoyable playing extra bridge after school
  • Every session better than the last and I have been remembering and picking up the mechanics eg whether to go for part score or game
  • Amazing, I’ve learned a lot in just a few sessions. I also know all the tips and tricks too. Can it continue next year?
  • Bridge club is very good and fun. The people make it really fun and easy to learn. It is really enjoyable
  • Much more engaging than I thought it would be, and great fun with friends
  • Bridge is very fun because it has a lot of strategy which lets players have skill and be proud of themselves

Quotes from the 6th Form Enrichment students

  • Enjoyable game – good exercise in memory and thinking through plays. Still feels like a lot to learn but very helpful and constructive teaching
  • Nice to get to know how to play a new game. Lots of maths involved (not my strong suit). Interesting playing together - better than being dummy
  • Bridge is a very interesting game that involved far more layers and skill than I anticipated. However, the instructors always explain it well. Very enjoyable

Bridge at Woodmancote School

Pupils at Woodmancote School, Cheltenham, have been learning the game with the help of Cheltenham Bridge Club volunteers.

Teacher, Paul Adkin, said: "It's absolutely delightful to see the children play bridge.
"They pick it up quickly, and it's a great example of a game which supports their learning on so many levels. It involves turn-taking, logic, long-term strategy, showing patience and, of course, maths.
"What's most important of all is that they enjoy it."
