Assisted/Supervised Play

FOBC Assisted/Supervised Play

This is a very popular option used for a multitude of reasons, here are just a few:

  • For new to FOBC members - this is a great way to ‘get started’ and meet other FOBC members. It is also a great way for.....
  • Novice players - who have just started learning the game or have just recently completed the lessons. Plus......
  • Any member - who is looking to improve their game and advance their skill level. Also...
  • Casual Game Players - looking to relax & play a few hands amongst friends of  non-competitive ‘chatty social bridge’ Even.....
  • The more experienced players - here even these players can take advantage of these sessions to practice their 'new found conventions' or just use the session to 'train' for their next big competetition or match

Currently these sessions are held on the following days and times:

  • Every Monday between 10.00am – Noon and again at 8.00pm – 10.00pm
  • Every Wednesday between 10.00am – Noon and again at 8.00pm – 10.00pm

How do the sessions operate?

Just log on to BBO and make your way to the FOBC/MSN Games Playing Room (details of how to do this can be found on the FOBC website under the ‘BBO section’).

No need for a partner as our ‘permanent hosts’ usually advised in advance, guarantee that all players will be able to ‘log on’ individually if they wish and find a game during the stipulated time.

Currently the hosts are likely to be, any or all from; trevor1of1; LCAofFOBC; Clivewood; desking and will be found somewhere in the FOBC/MSN room or BBO Casual Area;

  • Either playing,
  • Helping others
  • Kibitzing and giving advice
  • Or just loitering with intent to assist

How does the assistance work?

If you require technical assistance with ‘all matters IT’ then trevor1of1; claptrap and/or desking are probably the best option to approach. Just look for them (you will find ‘one or tother’ somewhere) then just send them a message with your query. Within minutes you will have a reply

With regards bridge assistance either desking or clivewood will be the preferred option.  Assistance with bridge matters is slightly different then we are normally used to with our live play: We advise now that unless one or other is available to advise you at the end of bidding and playing the hand; that you bid out the hand initially in the normal way; play it out (screen shot or save it if you wish), then once you have played it out send a message with your query. Once again within minutes you will have a reply.

Please be patient when awaiting a full and comprehensive answer to any query as our host(s) will often be required to ‘make up tables’ and may themselves be playing. But we will always give an answer no matter what or how long it takes.
