ADVANCED SEMINARS/LESSONS
ABOUT THE FOBC SEMINARS/LESSONS
ABOUT THE FOBC SEMINARS/LESSONS

Please Note: For the foreseeable future ALL SEMINAR/LESSONS will be unconditionally with no obligation Free Of Charge to everybody including non-members of FOBC

FOBC hold a series of Seminars & Lessons Every Wednesday afternoon starting at 2.00pm,  via the clubs 'FOBC Zoom In'

Each week, during these Seminars/lessons, we will discuss a different bridge topic aimed at all players who want learn and improve their game.

Aimed primarily at intermediate level and advancing players, the arrangement and format is;

  • All FOBC members and any visitors/guests can access the lesson using the zoom in links (non-members can simply email the club or the Tutor, currently Des King, to obtain the zoom link). Des King email address is kraftykeawyead@hotmail.com
  • For the moment lessons will be limited to 100 people with priority places going to the FOBC membership
  • Lessons usually last around 40 minutes with the option to extend if required
  • All Lessons are given via a 'Powerpoint Presentation' and although we always end all of our seminars with a Q&A sessions, we still encourage participant involvement at any stage, by interrupting to ask any questions or seek clarification at any stage.
  • All of these seminar/lessons are recorded and will be stored on the FOBC website for a weeks (max 4-6), so that all members (even if they missed any particular session) can now watch them in their own time pausing and replaying as many times as they wish.
  • Any other supplementary notes including a recording of each lesson where required will also be posted on the FOBC website.
  • Eventually all Lessons will be complimented by setting up practice hands representing the topic covered, by using the BBO platform, for now this is still a WIP.

The long term plans are to eventually provide lessons on:

  • Mini-bridge/get started with bridge
  • Beginner/basic ACOL bidding
  • Beginner/basic card play
  • Intermediate and advanced bridge topics
  • Other popular bridge bidding systems such as; Benjaminised ACOL; 2/1; SAYC; Precision style 'strong club'

If there is enough interest we will even have 'one off group seminars' focusing on specific areas of the game. Just to reiterate ALL LESSONS from FOBC continue to be FREE of ANY CHARGE.

If anybody has any ideas for lessons please let us know. The FOBC approach is ''We Listen, you all Learn'' If you would like a particular lesson on any bridge topic; or if you would like a repeat of any of the older lessons; or maybe just a 'zoom in discussion on all matters bridge' why not contact Des King, our FOBC tutor and if there is enough interest then it will be arranged

Some temporary links to other useful sites giving tips and ideas to help you improve your bridge will be added in this section from time to time.
