Winkworth Shield (Second Round)

You could be forgiven for thinking this had been forgotten or maybe you had forgotten about it yourself.  Caroline Martin's long illness had allowed her to play only very infrequently in recent months and it was not in the end possible to play her first round tie against Andrew and Martin.  Caroline had asked me to drop her and Keith from the competition but the Webmaster couldn't bring himself to do it so the blame for the extra delay of about a month lies squarely with him. To this liturgy of sadness may be added the loss of Connie and Danny and the departure from the club of his partner Ian plus Rosemary and Duncan.

The combined effect of all this loss has been to reduce the draw for round two to a bit of a nonsense so it has been necessary to move the furniture around quite a bit to produce a sensible draw for the second round.

The rejigged second round draw produced byes for Shellee and John and for Sue and Lindsay.

Ron & Charles will play Martin and Andrew

Richard & Simon will play Alex & Warren*

Alex and Warren have been restored to the competition as the highest scoring of the first round losers.

All matches are to be played at the first opportunity when both pairs are present.  The handicaps remain unchanged from round one.
