| 2026 Kalispell Middle School Tournament |
Kalispell Middle School's bridge program is headed to the national stage. Under Susan Okonsky — now in her second year leading Duplicate Bridge across four classrooms with a team of volunteers — students spend one math class a week learning to "Do the Math" over the card table. This spring, sixth-grader Kate Rogers took 1st place in JumpStart Bridge's national essay contest, earning an all-expense-paid trip for two to the Youth North American Bridge Championships (YNABC) in Minneapolis; she's bringing her mom, Amanda. So Kate wouldn't have to leave her partner behind, members of the Flathead Valley Bridge Center rallied to send Kessy Munday too, raising more than $1,400 for airfare, meals, and expenses. The two are now deep in prep — three to five lessons a week. Congratulations, Kate and Kessy: go show Minneapolis how Flathead Valley plays.
