Realbridge Session instructions

We play every Thursday, with a start time of 19:00. You may be interested to know that a half table or sitout is no problem, as with a normal club you can make a cuppa or have a chat with your partner while sat out.

It is very simple to play. There is no ongoing subscription although Five Aces will charge you £1.25 table money in arrears.

Please read here which has various information to help you set up (easy) and a few things that are well worth checking if new to online bridge.

19:00 is not hard and fast, the director will start play when he thinks everyone is ready. Even then, extra pairs or tables can join or be added during round one.  You should find the following instructions straightforward.

  • The link to play is found on the right hand side of the Five Aces Home page.
  • Enter your name in the first box, preferably as held by the EBU, but the scorer will cope (e.g. Malcolm Burch)
  • Enter your EBU number in the next box (ID number). If you don’t know or cannot remember, leave it blank and the scorer will sort it out (but please input in subsequent sessions).
  • Click  “login” and you are away! You will enter the lobby where you can see people at bottom right.
  • Partnerships should start a low numbered table. It just makes it easier to chat with them, without interruption from opponents. The director will start merging pairs into tables as the start time approaches.
  • The director will send out various chat messages to move people along. However you should find bidding and play quite straightforward.
  • The director will normally schedule 24 boards and expect to complete in 3 hours. The director can visit tables to chivvy people along. You can also call the director  (you will find an obvious button) if there are problems. Please phone Malcolm if you have problems, I will also broadcast my phone number in the chat box in case you need to phone.
  • There is a clock count down timer top left. It is NOT a hard limit, the director will institute the round move at a suitable time.
  • Results and hand records are available at the end of each round with a final result once all have finished.
