In applying for membership of “The Fermoy Commercial Club” (incorporating Fermoy Bridge Club) henceforth referred to as the FBC I understand and accept that the election of all New Members shall be in the hands of the committee. Each applicant for membership shall be proposed by an existing member and seconded by another existing member. The proposal form shall be placed on the Notice Board for at least 10 days prior to the date of the following committee meeting. To be elected (by ballot vote) the applicant must have a majority of at least three-fourths of those present (and voting) at the next duly convened meeting of the committee following application. A decision of the committee on an application for membership is not open to review at the General meeting.
The rules of FBC are above, please ensure you read them before progressing with your application
Once elected as a member of the FBC I agree to pay within 10 working days a subscription fee, currently set as €55, to the Treasurer of the FBC. This subscription fee includes 42.50€ as club membership and 12.50€ as obligatory membership of the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland (CBAI).
In the application form below you are asked if you wish to join, or be invited to join, the FBC's WhatsApp group (called 'Play Bridge'). It is optional but be aware this is a very useful feature as it is how members book their place in the regular FBC games and competitions, it is also the main platform for announcements about the FBC. However, in agreeing to be added to the WhatsApp group, other members will see your mobile number, this is unavoidable and you accept this in agreeing to join the WhatsApp group.
By virtue of being a member of the FBC, you automatically become a member of the CBAI, which is the governing body for the game of bridge in Ireland. The CBAI will therefore receive your personal data and will enter it into their member database.
The FBC undertakes to collect and use your personal data in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). Our legal basis for processing this data is our legitimate interest as a bridge club; we use it for administering your membership, communicating information, and organising events.
This information will be recorded in our membership database which is stored in compliance with GDPR. Our membership data is shared with the CBAI, and will also be shared with the CBAI Region (“the Region”) of which the FBC is a member. A limited amount of your personal data (name, NBID number, and grade) will be included in the CBAI’s online competition entry database, and as a result made available to competition organisers and Tournament Directors. The purpose of this is to ensure the correct identification of players for competition entry and masterpoint awards. Your photograph may be used to record the winning of competition prizes, or other noteworthy occasions.
Your personal data may be processed by other organisations that act as data processors on behalf of the FBC, the Region, or the CBAI. When you enter a competition organised under the auspices of the CBAI, you consent to having your personal data used for these purposes. These organisations may use your personal data only for the specific purposes for which they act as data processors; they are not free to pass it on to other organisations not connected with bridge.
Neither the FBC, the Region, nor the CBAI will pass on your personal data for use by any other third parties. Information about our data use policies, including how you can see what data we hold about you, how you can limit its use, and how you can ask for inaccuracies to be corrected, may be obtained from the Secretary of the FBC. The CBAI’s equivalent information is on its website, www.cbai.ie.
