January news:

Waterford Congress took place over the weekend 9/10/11th of January 2026. Fermoy members excelled and flying the flag for Fermoy were - Noel and his partner came second in the mixed pairs on Friday night, Karen and Liam won the best intermediate prize in the mixed pairs on Friday night, Mary Hayes and Kathleen O’Connor won the open pairs on Friday night and Mary Clancy and playing partner came 5th in the Congress Pairs on Saturday with Karen and Liam winning the first session in the intermediate A pairs on Saturday. Well done to our members yet again furthering the reputation of Fermoy Bridge Club.

Monday 12th January - Military Cup

Open to all club members and 35 pairs took part.

Handicaps are taken into account and prizes are given out at our presidents dinner.

Upcoming events:

Monday 19th January - Heskin Trophy (Teams of 4)

The Heskin  Trophy,a team competition open to all players, will take place on Monday 19th. Each pair needs to find another pair to enter,so there is an even number of pairs. On the night of the event each pair will draw another pair to make a team. Entries open on Friday morning and close at 6 pm Sunday. Entry fee is €10 each.

Cork County Council - We thank you!

The Committee of Fermoy Bridge Club, on behalf of its members, acknowledges with thanks the support of Cork County Council for providing the club with funds during the 2024/25 season.

These funds have been used for upgrading the clubhouse during the past year.

  Cork Bridge Congress

• When; Friday 23rd January 2026 - Sunday 25th 2026

• Where: Maryborough Hotel, Cork

• The Thomond & Desmonds cups which form part of this congress used to be played as a stand alone event prior to Covid, but since then they have been incorporated into the teams competitions at Congress. Details about Cork Congress is here and some additional information on the Thomond & Desmond cups is here.
