Tuesday 31st March - Tuesday morning social bridge raises money for club charity

To augment the money raised on the club's charity sunday game (held on 8th March) the Tuesday morning bridge game held a raffle to raise funds for the same charity.
The raffle was won by Constantine Kon (pictured centre).
And as a reminder to all, including non-members and those new to the club, know that you are very welcome to join in on the Tuesday morning social bridge game. No partner is required as you will be allocated a partner when you turn up. The Tuesday game is held every week starting at 10:30 am. Hope to see you there :)
Monday 30th March - Qualifying game for Specsavers competition
There is to be a Specsavers competition held in Cork Bridge Club on Sunday 12th April. Clubs are invited to put forward entrants to this competition. On Monday 30th March we held a competition to select members to put forward as Fermoy's entrants for the Specsavers competition (the club has secured a place for 3 pairs to enter). Further details will follow on who has been selected to represent Fermoy.
Clonmel Congress 27-29th March
A number of our members entered the congress and yet another great weekend for Fermoy.
Novice Pairs, Saturday 28th March - only 7 pairs took part in the competition, unfortunately none from Fermoy but Fermoy Novices this must be worth a look next year? - full results are here.
Intermediate Pairs, Saturday 28th March - 35 pairs took part - ffull results are here
Open Pairs Saturday afternoon, Saturday 28th March 30 pairs took part - full results are here. And congratulations to our Noel Bradfield & Partner who won!!, with Mary P O'Connor and Imelda Cullinan winning third prize, closely followed by Deirdre O'Connor and Susan Hennessey in fourth place.

Congress Pairs, Saturday 28th March 39 pairs took part - full final results are here (there were 2 sessions and Trond and Ollie did actually win the second session).
Congress Teams, Sunday 29th March 19 teams took part - full results are here. And congratulations to our Noel Bradfield who was on the 3rd placed team.
Monday 23rd March - Mixed pairs
Our annual mixed pairs took place and was enjoyed by all. The mixed pairs competition was held upstairs with 14 pairs taking part and results are here, congratulations to our winners Eddie Sheehan and Helen Lane.
A normal club night game was held downstairs for everyone else.
Sunday 22nd March - Regional Novice pairs organised by South Munster Region
A very friendly annual event organised by South Munster and held in Cork Bridge Club. Restricted to Novices only it is a great introduction to competitive bridge. 28 pairs entered with at least 4 pairs took part from Fermoy Bridge Club, best placed were Tricia Dorgan and Brede Walsh at fifth place, congratulations all and the full results are here.
Sunday 8th March - Charity Sunday game
Open to all our members and held to support a local charity (Fermoy Special Needs Group).
A total of 29 pairs took part and all enjoyed the post game raffle. All monies collected for drinks, game and raffle were collected for the charity.

Monday 2nd March - National Simultaneous Pairs (CBAI)

The second of 3 simultaneous pairs competition taking place this year. As with all these sim pairs competitions it took place in our club at the usual Monday night time. It is an annual competition with pairs playing the same cards as other pairs across Ireland. This simultaneous pairs is organised by, and open to all members of, the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland (CBAI).
29 pairs took part in our club in the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland (CBAI) Simultaneous pairs, the results are available on the Ecats website (click here). Mondays results for Ireland Sim Pairs - Superb result for Fermoy - Trond Johnsen & Oliver Reilly in 2nd place overall, and are awarded €75 each prize money from the CBAI Closely followed by Mary Clancy & Mary P O’Connor in 5th place!, and are awarded €40 each prize money from the CBAI - fantastic news.

The CBAI also advised "Thanks also to your club for supporting the Simultaneous Pairs; they are an important source of funds for the CBAI. We hope you’ll take part again in the Celtic Nations Sims from 11-15 May; the proceeds of that week’s Sims go directly to junior bridge in Ireland, so the best of causes."

The Committee of Fermoy Bridge Club, on behalf of its members, acknowledges with thanks the support of Cork County Council for providing the club with funds during the 2024/25 and the 2025/26 season.
These funds have been used for upgrading the clubhouse during the past year.
