FELIXSTOWE BRIDGE CLUB
Provisional Minutes of the Annual General Meeting
held in the Felixstowe Bowls Club on Tuesday 5th December 2023 at 1.30.p.m.
Present:- Chairman Clive Sweeting
Treasurer Christina Charvill
Chief TD and acting Secretary Malcolm Carey
and 10 Members
Apologies for absence:- Rex & Barbara Barker, Mike & Janet Jude; Marion Crisp, Jan Wynne, Pat Dougan, Gill Newton, Jenny Carter, Sheila Priestley & Steve Danby.
Clive welcomed members to the meeting and thanked them for attending. He expressed his thanks to Malcolm & Barbara for keeping the club running; to Christina our treasurer and Clive’s daughter who had helped with the preparation of the accounts; to Jeanette for organising the Christmas food and the members who regularly helped setting up and clearing away equipment.
1. Previous minutes.
The minutes of the Special meeting in December 2022 were read. There were no queries or matters arising.
2. Treasurer’s report.
Christina presented the years accounts and thanked Clive for acting as auditor.
We had made another loss but this was thought to be reasonable. A sub-committee meeting had decided that the annual subscription should be raised to £10. Discussion also took place regarding increasing the level of table money or subscription and it was agreed that the table money should be increased to £3 with immediate effect.
The cost of room hire was queried. Members were invited to report back on any other appropriate venues in Felixstowe.
3. Election of Committee.
The following nominations had been received unopposed and were all elected without a vote.
Chairman Clive Sweeting
Secretary Marion Crisp
Treasurer Chris Charvill
Chief TD Malcolm Carey
Committee Tony Shearman; Barbara Carey and Jeanette Hockley
There was no nomination for the Membership Secretary post and Malcolm thought that the job could be better combined with the tournament director’s work as much of the contact with the EBU is via the scoring program.
4. Report from Secretary and Membership Secretary.
Veronica had resigned from the club and had supplied no report. We have 60 current members on the scoring system but some of these are “retired” or visitors.
5. Motions from members.
There were no formal motions submitted.
6. Any other Business.
A poll was taken .regarding meeting over the Christmas period and it was agreed that there would be no meeting on 26th December. The club will meet on January 2nd
.
