President Dick Sandeman welcomed everyone to the EGM on Monday to discuss the future of the Club.
New premises are required to move forward and following Brendan Clark's discussion with the Cyrenians - owners of the newly refurbished Arnotdale, the former home of Falkirk Bridge Club - it is anticipated the Club will move there in September.
Attracting new members and encouraging old ones to return by using social media to advertise. Anne Symons offered to set up classes to teach Bridge with help from club members.
After discussions regarding the withdrawal of Falkirk Callander from the local league, Valerie Dillon has offered to captain the team for the new season.
The minutes from this meeting will be made available to members asap.
Falkirk Bridge Club meets every Monday night in the Falkirk Rugby Club, Sunnyside, Dorrator Road, Camelon, FK2 7YW at 6.55pm. The format is duplicate bridge and the club season runs from September to the end of April. The club has two teams in the East of Scotland League and two in the Falkirk and District League. Home league matches are at the church hall of St. Mary's of the Angels RC Church, Watling Street (off Glasgow Road) Camelon, Falkirk FK1 4HX. The hall is behind the church in Brown Street.
Every Monday during the summer there is an open teams of four competition playing for the Bridie & Ross Trophy. Play begins at 6.55pm and visitors are welcome. Contact details can be found in the Committee section in the information pages.
The Bridie & Ross Summer Teams starts on Monday 23 April 2019 and continues through until the start of the winter season in September 2019. All are welcome. Best 7 scores will count, one substitute being allowed for each of these scores. There is also a concurrent handicap competition. All welcome, the more the merrier!
