The objects of the club are to:

1, Provide teaching opportunities

2. Create an opportunity for members  to play duplicate bridge at beginner and intermediate level in a friendly atmosphere.

  General Rules (Sample)

CONSTITUTION

1.  TITLE:   The club shall be called the Falconer Welton Bridge Club.

2.  AIMS:    The aim of the Club shall be to promote friendship and fellowship amongst individuals who enjoy playing and learning about the game of Bridge.

3.  MEMBERSHIP:  Membership shall be open to any person over the age of 18 years who is introduced by a member.

4.  APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP:  Applications for membership shall be taken in order of their receipt by the Secretary and approved by the Committee.  The Secretary shall then notify the membership of such applications at the next regular meeting of the Club.  Should there be an objection to an applicant from any member, the application will be dealt with at the discretion of the Committee.  Thee shall be a joining fee of £10.  This amount to be assessed annually at the AGM.  The size of the room dictates the size of the membership.

5.  EXPULSION FROM MEMBERSHIP:  The Club may, on the recommendation of the Committee, expel from the Club any member who, in the opinion of the Committee,it is not desirable to retain as a member, always provided such member shall have been given the opportunity of giving any explanation in person to a meeting of the Committee.

6.  GUESTS:  Members are welcome to bring guest on occasion, however, guests attending more than 3 times will be expected to pay a full membership fee as well as the weekly table fee.  If the guest is under the age of 18 years, no membership fee will be charged and the player will not qualify for voting rights regarding club business.

7.  MEETINGS:  Place: The Manor Park Sport Pavilion, Welton, Lincs.  Time:  The Club shall meet weekly on a Friday.  The meeting shall commence at 9.30 am and continue until 12,00 noon approximately, unless the Committee shall decide otherwise.  An Annual General Meeting shall be held in September.  Notices of Motions should be in the hands of the Secretary on week before the AGM.  Voting at all meetings shall be by a show of hands or by ballot if so decided.  There shall be no proxy voting.  The Chairman shall have the casting vote.

8.  OFFICERS OF THE CLUB:  The Club shall have a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer.  These Officers to be elected by the membership on a show of hands (or by a ballot if so decided by the membership), after being Proposed and Seconded by members.  The affairs of the Club shall be managed by a Committee consisting of these three Officers plus such other members as shall be from time to time determined by the membership.  All Officers and Committee Members may offer themselves for re-election at the AGM.  The Committee shall have the power to co-opt,

9.  WEEKLY SUBSCRIPTIONS:  The weekly subscription shall be decided annually at the AGM and shall be payable to the Treasurer (or appointed Committee Member deputized so to act), at the weekly meeting.

10.  ACCOUNTS:  Cheques and/or notices withdrawing monies issued on behalf of the Club shall be signed by any two authorized signatories (or other signatory required by the bank or building society which holds the Club account).  In addition, the Treasurer has the authority to request a bank card on the Club's account and apply for internet banking in order to carry out his/her duties.  Members accept that the Primary User will have access to accounts online an be able to make payment solely.
