For the Club Pairs Competition, Essex clubs are invited to enter up to 4 pairs to represent their club.

The first two pairs will be considered for selection to represent Essex in the C team for the Metropolitan Cup (when/if held) with the third pair as reserves.

Account may need to be taken of whether pairs include  C squad players with priority, perhaps, being given to non-squad members.

The format and timing of the Metropolitan Cup can vary and whether selection is for the current or following season will need to take account of this.

Players will play about 32 boards.

There will be a prize of a set of 24 packs of playing cards for the club whose top two pairs have the highest combined score.
