Solution

Thank you to Marc Chawner

The fact that this is supposed to be an ‘Easy’ bridge problem means that you can make 13 tricks without using any clever techniques such as Squeezes etc.

The key is to cash your 13 top tricks in the correct order.

Start off by cashing dummy’s four KINGS.

Now the Queen and Ace of Diamonds.

Now cash your 3 top Clubs, discarding 3 Hearts from dummy.

Now cash the Ace of Hearts discarding dummy’s Diamond.

Let’s take stock:

All we have left is Q 10 9 of Spades opposite A 4 3 of Spades.

If one of the defenders discarded the last Diamond on our Ace of Hearts, then we know the full hand distribution. i.e. We would know which defender is currently holding Jxx of Spades and we would play the Spade suit accordingly.

If the Jack of Diamonds has not been discarded, then whoever is holding the Jack of Diamonds cannot now be holding Jxx of Spades and we play the Spade suit accordingly.
