Minutes of the last AGM and Matters Arising
The minutes were accepted. There were no matters arising.
Chairman’s report
Since recommencing play after the pandemic there has been a big reduction in numbers attending but some new members have joined and there have been regular visits from Hayling Island Bridge Club. This has resulted in an average of 5.5 tables over the last year. It is clear that, without a resurgence in interest from younger people, terminal decline will be the outcome. A short discussion ensued as to how the numbers might be increased. It was suggested that personal invitation might be effective. Ted added that his class of new learners are largely retired people and not youngsters.
Treasurer’s report
The amount held in the bank account plus cash in hand is £1180.46. Current membership fees are £10 to the Bridge Club and £25 to ESSC. It is now possible to pay by bank transfer via the website. Since guests do not pay a membership fee to the ESSC, it was suggested that half this year’s income from them (i.e £138) should be given to ESSC. It was also suggested that a donation of £100 should be given to ESSC’s charity. Michael Woodhams was thanked for auditing the accounts.
