Gaynor Cup |
The Gaynor Cup was donated by the family of Paddy Gaynor who was one of the early members of an organised Bridge Club in Elm Park. Paddy was a leading light in Elm Park in the 1950s / 1960s holding various administrative offices in that period including Captain in 1957, President in 1965 and Bridge President in 1963. He was heavily involved in the significant land purchase in 1960 - which now contains holes 8 - 15 inclusive. The Cup donated by his family after his death is a small silver Cup and was reputed to be the only Golf Prize that Paddy ever won in Elm Park. The Cup was used as a prize for an Individual competition that had been initiated in the club just before Paddy's death. Individual format competitions gradually lost favour and the format was changed to Pairs format in 2008-2009 season
