Congratulations to Gary Dowling, who won the Fisher Cup individual event on 13 January, with a fantastic score of over 71%. Well done also to Joyce Thompson in second place and Frances Donnelly in third. The full scores are in the Results section.  

We will be introducing handicaps for the Wednesday competitions on a trial basis in the New Year, in order to give Novice and Intermediate B players a better opportunity to win competitions and to develop their game. We will be using the same system, based on CBAI grades, as applies in the Captain’s Prize and other handicapped competitions run by the club, ie +15% for a Novice pair, +10% for an Intermediate B pair, and +5% for an Intermediate A pair. Initially handicaps will apply on alternate Wednesdays during January and February, starting on 8 January, and we will review at that stage. If you are a member of Dún Laoghaire Bridge Club, we will have your grade on our records. Otherwise, if you have a grade from another club, please advise Michael. Players who do not have CBAI grades will be treated as Novices, but may be upgraded at the TD’s discretion.
