WELCOME TO DBC

An ACBL Sanctioned, Zero Tolerance Bridge Center

The Duncan Bridge Center prides itself on being an inclusive bridge environment. Our players conduct themselves as exemplary sportspersons and treat one another with respect and civility. Our attendees play for love of the game, for sport and excellent bridge competition. Pettiness, nastiness, or making anyone feel small in any way has no place at our club – we adhere to all tenets of Zero Tolerance.

In accordance with Law 74, Laws of Duplicate Bridge, the following outlines what is expected of all players during ACBL sanctioned games, as well as before and after each session.

We ask everyone to:

*              Be a good 'host' and 'guest' at the table.

The following list are some examples of behavior which will not be tolerated:

*              Badgering, rudeness, insinuations, intimidation, profanity, threats, or violence.
*              Negative comments concerning opponents' or partner's play or bidding.
*              Constant and gratuitous lessons and analyses at the table.
*              Loud and disruptive behavior.
*              Arguing with the ruling of the Director.

If a player at the table behaves in an unacceptable manner, as stated above, the Director should be called immediately. ACBL’s Codification – Part 2 – Bridge Operations Chapter VI -F, gives the Director the authority to assess disciplinary penalties in any club event.

If it is established that there was unacceptable behavior, an immediate ¼ board disciplinary penalty (3 IMPs in team games) shall be assigned to all offenders. This may involve any one or all four players at the table irrespective of who initiated the unacceptable behavior. If both members of a partnership are guilty, the penalties are
culminative, ¼ board each = ½ board.

Two violations in a 90-day period of the Duncan Bridge Center’s Zero Tolerance Policy will result in suspension or barring from the Center.

The Director’s ruling, at all Club sponsored events, is final. In accordance with Law 93A of the Laws of Duplicate Bridge. The Duncan Bridge Center does not have an Appeal Committee.
