The Home Instead Dublin Summer Bridge Congress was formally opened by Chairman Rory Egan, Lisa Cassidy of Home Instead and the Preseident of the CBAI Peter O'Meara at Westmanstown Sport & Conference Centre, Westmanstown, Co Dublin. Once again, it encouraged players at every level to participate in the fun that this congress usually generates on so many levels.
To this end, they hosted separate Novice and Mixed Pairs on the Friday, Intermediate A, Intermediate B, Area Master and Congress Pairs on the Saturday and separate Novice, Intermediate A, Intermediate B, Area Master and Congress Teams on the Sunday.
The committee were delighted with our Tournament Directors - Brian Lawlor and John Royds who put together the best TD team in the country with Bernard Higgins and Huey Daly. Ann Burns and I are also delighted to welcome Mairead Haugh to the Congress Team this year. I know she will be a very valuable addition.
We kicked off the event on the Friday evening with a Mixed Pairs competition. We are also kept our Novice Pairs competition on Friday night which made it more welcoming to less experienced players.
For those prefer not to play in the formal competition, there was an Open Pairs competition on the Friday night and on the Sunday also, where pre-booking was not necessary.
Entries should be made by email to -

Sponsorship and Patrons
We are delighted that Home Instead are continuing their main sponsorship and they will have a stand at the venue. Sponsorship is very important to Bridge competitions so please support our sponsors when you can.
With this in mind, we are asking for your help to fill our sponsorship allocation this year. If you know a company, friend or family member who would be generous enough to sponsor one of our competitions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Dublin Summer Bridge Congress has been a fantastic addition to the Irish Bridge Calendar and we hope to continue to provide fun and competitive Bridge around this time for many years to come. However, we do require sponsors and patrons to help us in our task.
If you feel that Bridge has given you something extra in your life and you are in a position to support us, we would be thrilled if you became a Patron of the Dublin Summer Bridge Congress.
The cost of being a patron is just €100 and all our patrons will be acknowledged in our literature and will be given a personal free entry to all their competitions over the weekend as a thank you for their participation.
