The AGM of Dublin South Region was help on Friday 12 June 2026 at 8.00 pm in the Annex of Templeogue Bridge Centre
John Coulter gave a resume of his year as President of Dublin South Region.
Among other things, he spoke about the clubs that he had visited.
He said that it was very heartening to see the increase of participants in many of the Regional competitions,
particularly among the A, the B and the Novice grades.
But there were areas where numbers had fallen and efforts will be made to address this.
He ended by thanking his committee for the support that he had received through the year, which he enjoyed as President.
One of the key agenda items was a report from the CBAI CEO, Dermot O'Brien, who thanked the committee for the invitation to the meeting, and reported another very solid bridge season at national level for 2025/26.
1) Membership is up by more than 4%;
2) National competitions have been well supported;
3) Congresses have seen their numbers grow strongly;
4) The Association will report another financial surplus, and has the funds to invest in development projects.
He updated the meeting on the proposed amalgamation of the CBAI with the NIBU, on which a formal resolution will be proposed by the Governing Council at the upcoming AGM, and answered some questions on this.
He encouraged members to study the proposals carefully, and to ask any relevant questions, before casting their vote.
He thanked all the club secretaries for all their work during the season, and officers and committee of Dublin South, who do a great job for the region.
He invited all members to the CBAI AGM on Saturday 27 June in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow, at 2pm, with a game of bridge afterwards for anyone wishing to play.
At the end of the meeting, John Coulter handed over his chain of office to the incoming President for 2026/27, Anne-Marie Feeney

John Coulter handed over his chain of office to Anne-Marie Feeney
Anne-Marie said it was an honour to receive this chain of office, that she hoped to continue the admirable work of previous presidents and to this end, she invited delegates to contact her if they needed her help and said she would welcome feedback, good or bad, from any member of DSR.
