Can you get to a slam and if so could you bid 7 s?

Standard 1♠ opening by South.

2 by North, with 19HCPs opposite an opening hand already thinking of a slam.

South has choice of 4 or potentially 4 if you are sure that partner will take this as a splinter agreeing  s. 3 is probably an iunerbid with .the D singleton.

North will use RKCB to see if South has the K s.

South will bid 5♣ (1430 RKCB - the better RKCB and now the most common) showing one Key card.

If South had bid 4 North he knows South must have 11HCPs, K , and a combination of 8+ HCPs KQ and Js in ♠ and ♣ s, so a good chance for 7 s

North having all Keycards will bid 5NT asking for Ks. Have you agreed your responses with partner?

Option of showing number of Ks

  • 6 shows 0 kings.
  • 6 shows 1 king.
  • 6 shows 2 kings.
  • 6 shows 3 kings.

So after 6 seems like 7  sounds a good possibility.

The alternative of specific Ks South would bid 6♣ from South

Some Souths knowing that North is interested in a grand slam by the 5NT bid, knowing N/S have all keycards, and a good source of tricks not shown the KQ sequence in ♠ ♣ s and singleton (if not shown) can bid 7 himself!!

Suggested Alternative - but risky.

You need clear agreed partner agreeement on this one!

1♠ - 3 (strong jump shift 6 losers or less) https://www.bridgebum.com/strong_jump_shifts.php
Is this what you have agree with your partners? The alternative is VERY different.

With a strong jump shift
South bids 1430 RKCB 4NT
North responds- 5♣C (1/4)
South bids - 5 (Q ask) - 5NT (yes Q trump but no K) - 7NT (3S, 6H, 1D, 3C)
