North should pass, not meeting the rule of 20. Andrew Robson on rule of 20.
East will bid 1♦ , with the hope of trying♥ s, though probably not strong enough for a reverse.
South will make life difficult with a weak jump overcall of 2♠
West will double (values and support for the other suits.
North will make life difficult with 4♠. Meeting the law of total tricks.
East has no working bid. Double is probably best option which if passed gives -2 = 300. If West bids 5♥ -2 for -200 and if West bids 5♣ -2 or converted to 5♦ also -2!
If N/S do not compete, E/W will get a great score of 4♥ making. |
