West will pass.
North will bid 1♦ with the intent to rebid 2N to show 17-18
East will pass and south will bid 1♥
West will pass.
North will bid his 2N showing a balanced 17-18 HCPs
North can see a slam so will bid 3♠ showing 5+♥ s and 4+♠ s
North will bid 3N
The danger now is that North will pass 4♠ (showing Souths shape 6+♥ s and 5+♠ s).
South could try 5♠ showing Souths shape 6+♥ s and 5+♠ s and inviting a slam. What is your understanding with your partner? For many if trumps had been agreed it could be askig for 2 out of 3. Trumps have not been yet agreed. So what could it mean? Here is an interesting discussion about bidding of 5 of a major when trumps had been agreed. https://bridgewinners.com/article/view/raises-to-five-of-the-agreed-major-suit/
North then has a choice (6♠ s as 5/3 is better than 6/2♥ s or bidding 6N - a duplicate contract). His hand is stronger than his 17HCPs with A and AK and only one Q (Kaplan and Rubens hand evaluator shows it as 18HCPs)
Either of these slams will be good. 6♥ should go off due to bad trump split. |
