Donations to CATH

Many thanks to all of you you kindly brought in food items and additional donations for Chester Aid to the Homeless (CATH) for President's Day 2025 and the following week. We (David, Susan and Sheena) took them to the their centre opposite the Grosvenor Museum on Monday 24 March. They were very appreciative of both £1,116 cash and the food items. The cash amount includes money we raised from the Chester Bowl competition last October as well as from Presidents Day. Here's a photo of us handing over a cheque to Rob (CATH CEO), and a photo of our donated food items.

Deva supports Christleton's Village Playing Fields' project

Deva Bridge Club held a bridge drive on Thursday 26 September in aid of Christleton's Village Playing Fields' upgrade. We played 24 hands, stopping for a sumptuous lunch in the middle, and (with a raffle and proceeds from ticket sales) raised £540. Here are photos from the event, firstly Susan handing a cheque to Elizabeth for the playing fields, and then presentation of prizes to 1st and 2nd N/S and E/W (in the order of % scores).

We were part of EBU's Festival of Bridge (Copy)
We were part of EBU's Festival of Bridge (Copy)

Our regular Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday sessions in the week w/c 9 September were part of EBU's Festival of Bridge (BRIDGE IT'S A BIG DEAL) which was in aid of Cancer Research UK. Deva Bridge Club has now paid £425 to the charity this amount being the table money collected (£4 in club and $4.50 on BBO) less the normal UMS paid to EBU and BBO's share. EBU are also donating the UMS to the charity which (thanks to those who played in those sessions) means we raised £491 in total. In total the Festival has (as of Sept 29) raised over £80,000. Not bad hey!
