The John Cliffe Award is an annual award given by the Committee to recognise consistent high performance in club sessions by a member with an EBU rating of District Master or below.

The 2023/24 award was given to Mac McCarthy following the October 2024 AGM.

In recent years, the Committee have used the following criteria to determine the award:

1. The qualifying period for the Award shall be one year starting 1 September.
2. Previous recipients will not be eligible.
3. All other members of Deva Bridge Club, who have an EBU Master Points ranking of District Master or lower at the start of each qualifying period, shall be eligible.
4. The Award shall be made to the eligible person who has a) the highest average percentage score in standard Club sessions during the qualifying period and b) has played a minimum of 40 times. In the event of a tie, the Award will go to the person who has played the greater number of times.
5. The Award shall be a token/voucher to a value determined by the Deva Bridge Club Committee, taking into account interest rates applicable during the qualifying period.
6. The Award shall be made annually at the Deva Bridge Club AGM.
7. All matters relating to this Award shall be decided by the Deva Bridge Club Committee.
